Payroll in Poland

Wages

In Poland, wages vary widely by region and industry. The national statutory minimum wage is 31.40 PLN per hour.

Salaries

In Poland, workers in IT typically take in the highest salaries, followed by those in finance, then those in legal services. Entry-level employees in IT average 6,000 to 8,000 PLN per month, while a mid-level engineer might make 12,000 to 19,000 PLN per month. High-level tech workers, especially consultants, tend to make much more.

Entry-level employees in business process outsourcing (BPO) roles in Poland average 5,000 to 7,500 PLN per month. A mid-level accountant might earn 7,000 to 10,400 PLN per month, while a senior accountant might make 10,000 to 15,3000 PLN.

Overall, the average monthly salary in Poland is 9,600 to 10,200 PLN for men and 8,400 to 8,900 PLN for women. This gender gap represents the fact that men tend to work in higher-paid industries like IT, even though women sometimes tend to earn more than men in certain sectors. Poland’s gender pay gap is one the lowest in the European Union.

Salaries by location in Poland

In Poland, salaries in the metropolitan areas of Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, and Poznan are significantly higher than in the rest of the country, with salaries dropping sharply in rural areas. Workers in Warsaw and Krakow typically see the highest salaries, ranging from 8,000 to over 11,000 PLN per month, followed by Wroclaw, where salaries typically range from 8,000 PLN to 9,800 PLN per month. Cities in Eastern Poland such as Bialystok and Lublin typically have lower salaries, around 5,500 to 6,500 PLN per month, because of their lower cost of living.

Payroll frequency

In Poland, employees are typically paid on a monthly basis, with salaries disbursed in arrears on a fixed, predetermined date specified in the employment contract or workplace regulations. The Polish Labour Code mandates that remuneration must be paid at least once a month, ensuring regular income for employees.

In addition to regular monthly wages, employees may receive additional compensation such as annual bonuses or incentives. These payments are often stipulated in collective bargaining agreements or internal company policies and are disbursed according to the terms outlined therein. Employers are required to adhere to the agreed-upon schedules for these payments to maintain compliance with labor regulations.
